The Minimalist Sunscreen SPF 50 Review!

After the long wait minimalist have finally dropped their long awaited sunscreens and I  got this the very next day when I saw it on Amazon for a nice deal. Well to say the least you can see that my inner sunscreen hoarder came out and took advantage of  the offer and got both the  sunscreens and do I regret it? NO. Well, without more rambling lets get onto the review.

Disclaimer: This post is meant for review purposes only. I am not a certified dermatologist or a skincare expert and this post is not meant for treating any individuals.

First things first I am so happy about the  packaging. If you use and reapply your sunscreen regularly, everyday then you know how fast they end and it is also frustrating how such an essential product is overpriced and is sold for such small quantity. On an average for my usage a 50ml product of sunscreen with regular two finger rule application lasts for about 6 weeks (1 month and 2 weeks) and most brands with good sunscreens do not retail sunscreen for an amount below 500 or if you  get a sunscreen below 500 then the protection aspect of it is questionable (blessing tree I am looking at you :/) but I think minimalist have launched their spf 50 at such a competitive price with such decent filters that  my inner sunscreen hoarder feels like we will have more competitive budget sunscreen releases in the Indian Market soon.

Product Details and Pricing: Minimalist have launched two varients of their sunscreens i.e. spf 50 and spf 60 both with  the pa of ++++ which is pretty impressive in my opinion. The spf 50 retails for Rs.389 and the  spf 60 retails for Rs. 589 respectively.

Sunscreen filters used: The spf 50 contains 4 sunscreen filters namely: Uvinul T50, Avobenzone, Octocrylene and Titanium Dioxide. The spf 50 also has multi-vitamins which are anti-oxidants which work very well with sunscreens generally. From what I can read about these filters from trusted websites on the internet they do seem to be pretty effective.

The spf 60 also contains 4 sunscreen filters namely; Tinosorb S, Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150 and Titanium Dioxide. This sunscreen is a blend of modern and traditional sunscreen filters and as the name of the product says it contains a strong anti-oxidant ingredient called Silybum Marianum Fruit Extract (Silymarin) which fights free radicals and also reduces inflammation and photodamage caused by UV exposure.

My experience: Firstly, if you are impatient like me and want your products delivered to you ASAP then order from Amazon instead of the minimalist website because their shipping is VERY SLOW. But if you are a fan of the extra packaging and want the whole unboxing experience then shop from their website.

I ordered it on the 02nd of October and received it on the 3rd. They came in normal Amazon packaging and the products had a packaging very similar to that of the serums.

Swatch of the spf 50. (I'm sorry for the bad lighting. I swatched it in a hurry before my online class lol)

The product has a creamy texture but is not very thick and it blends pretty fast. The video is not speeded up so it took me around 21 seconds to blend it completely.

The finish of the product on skin after blending it out is sort of demi matte and not completely matte or dewy. I personally loved the finish of the sunscreen.

This is my face right after the application of the sunscreen and as always I applied two finger worth sunscreen and was able to blend it pretty well without having to put a lot of effort.

Now my only complaint is that this sunscreen pilled a little near my upper jaw area where I do have my hairline and this is more evident during reapplication but it's not the worst pilling and came off when I removed it.

This is after reapplication and I have tried my best to capture the very slight pilling which I noticed.

Now, before finishing this review I would also like to say that on this day I had especially very dry eyes because of the constant staring of my computer screen because of the online classes so my eyes were already irritated when I first applied the sunscreen so I did feel some irritation but nothing like the Neutrogena one but during reapplication I did not feel any such eye irritation. I'll keep you guys updated about the eye irritation in case it occurs in future when I use this sunscreen.

Personally for me I don't see any con in the sunscreen because it ticks every requirements for a sunscreen in my expectation. So I would totally recommend this sunscreen to everyone who plans on getting it because it's budget friendly, fragrance free, photostable and leaves no white cast.
